Launching Ceremony of OnME Platform on 8 July 2005

Invitation: Launching Ceremony of OnME Platform

On behalf of Online Mobile Engine Research Laboratory, Computer Science & Engineering Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, we are pleased to announce the initial launch of the "Online Mobile Engine (OnME)" game development platform. A launching ceremony for the OnME Platform will be held on 8 July 2005. You are cordially invited to attend the event.

Funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund of Hong Kong SAR government, iNFOiSLIVE Corporation Limited, and Group Sense (International) Limited, the OnME Platform aims to provide a ready-to-use middleware technology to strengthen the capability of mobile game development for local digital entertainment industry.

In view of the increasing popularity of mobile Massive Multi-player Online Role Play Game (mobile MMORPG) in the Greater China, it is expected that there will be enormous opportunities for the local mobile game companies. OnME Platform provides comprehensive, well-structured MMORPG modules and toolkits to mobile game developers. It greatly reduces the development cost and time, and thus reduces the risk of the large-scaled game project development life cycles.

OnME Platform is implemented based on Java with cross-platform capabilities, therefore mobile games developed based on the OnME engine can be executed in a wide range of handsets. It allows developers to concentrate on the unique content development and spend less time dealing with platform compatibility issue. OnME Platform's executable code is compact and can be easily deployed in many handsets.

The Launching Ceremony will include a demonstration of the OnME Platform's various features and experience-sharing from mobile game developers. We will also announce the application procedures for using the OnME Platform. Details as follows:
